Good evening Laurie,
Now you can search into two directions:
AA. Your "french" ancestor François DURAND (70 y/o in 1882), therefore born around 1812 in Landau (French town at that time).
You can try to ask for his birth certificate
1° in Landau from the town hall:
https://www.landau.de/
2° or write in the French Geneanet, which is active for Germany:
https://www.geneanet.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=75
To note that the name Durand is typically french and that François DURAND's parents may have settled recently in Landau (in the northernmost part of Alsace where names were more germanic). Further ancestors are then likely to come from french-speaking regions. (ie France or Belgium)
BB. The wedding DURANDxDAHMEN
Your ancestor Godefroy was born in 1832/1833, although his father was just 21 y/o and his mother 25-26 y/o. It is likely that the wedding occurred just before, let's guess around 1831/1832.
You can then ask from a wedding certificate from
1° either the Archives in Nantes (as explained before)
2° the town hall of Dusseldorf : https://www.duesseldorf.de/
3° or again from the French Geneanet active for Germany
Good evening

Civil and church records for Landau can be browsed on Familysearch.org (look under "Catalogue" > Landau in der Pfalz). Those records are also partially indexed.
Cordialement
